George and Megan Safar met in Miami in 2010 while on vacation with friends. Even though they met away from home, they already had one thing in common which was a group of mutual friends from Church. Following their meeting in Miami, they came back to California and started dating. After 6 years of dating, George proposed to Megan in Lake Tahoe on a hot air balloon ride, overlooking the lake with a beautiful sunrise, and champagne toasts. The couple got married with a stunning ceremony and reception on August 16, 2014 and we're very excited to share all the details and the beautiful photos from Vic Studios.
We asked Megan to share their wedding planning experience and here's what she had to say...
"We started wedding planning in August, 2013 right after our engagement party. My vision of the wedding was a fairytale wedding, fit for a princess. I pictured white and blush flowers at a beautiful venue. While planning, the most challenging part was the guest list. Both of us have large families so we had to accommodate for over 600 guests. My favorite part of planning was the flower arrangements. Being able to design, choose, and bring my vision to life was the best part."
Megan wore 2 dresses on her wedding day. Her first dress was a custom gown made by the designer Eve of my Lady. Her entire gown was custom beaded with custom train for a dramatic entrance at the Church. Her second dress was made by Vera Wang called Katherine. While Megan's first dress had a lot of details and crystals, her second dress was fun and whimsical for the reception party.
Megan is Persian and George is Assyrian. So they incorporated a little bit of each culture and traditions into their wedding. According to Assyrian Orthodox tradition, Megan and George entered the reception with Arabic music followed by the guests joining on the dance floor. During the reception, an Iranian band played traditional Persian music.
One of the major highlights at Megan and George's wedding was their custom 8-tiered cake made by Royal Cakes. The entire cake was hand made with sugar flowers and each layer was different. There was a variety of ingredients and flavors such as fruits, chocolate, and vanilla in each layer to accommodate all of the guests.
The bride and groom shared their favorite moments from the wedding and here's what they said...
Megan said "My favorite moment was walking down the aisle seeing George at the end of the aisle, and also the reception when we were able to dance with all of our guests."
George said "My favorite moment was seeing Megan walking down the aisle with her father and being around family and friends."
