MANIFA'S STORY: TRNDEZ 2018

Hello and Happy Trndez everyone! Well it’s a few days after, but still! I am so excited to be sharing this blog with you all. As many of you know Emin and I haven’t really participated in many Armenian traditions so when it came to celebrating Trndez we really wanted to make it all so authentic.

When we first got engaged my mother in law asked me if I wanted her to bring me a bajeen. This is the little gifts her and her family bring for me on certain holidays. I really didn’t care for any of them except Trndez. What is Trndez you all ask? Well it’s a holiday to celebrate new brides that is celebrated on the eve of February 13th or sometimes in the morning of February 14th. Usually the bride’s family invites the groom’s family to their house and the groom’s family brings some special foods and gifts for the bride. The bride and groom go to church together and bring home a candle which they use to light a fire. Once the fire is lit they walk around it three times and then jump over the fire three times. Doing this blesses them with a happy marriage.

MANIFA'S STORY: OUR WEDDING THEME

Hello and Happy New Year fellow brides. I’m sorry I have been a little M.I.A. with the blogs lately. I have been dealing with a lot of family stuff since Christmas. I hope all of you were able to enjoy the holidays. Why don’t we just dive right in and get started?

So, as you read in my last blog, Emin and I selected our reception and ceremony venue. Even though many people say choosing a banquet hall is the biggest decision you have to make, I have to say I don’t agree. For Emin and I deciding on the theme of our wedding was the most important decision. I will say this however, making this decision was surprisingly very easy.

One thing I think everyone should know about me is that I am a very creative person. I’ve always been one of those girls that had the completely decked out and designed folders at school. I used to have my own business on Etsy where I created bedazzled glass decorations. I have designed and sewn all of mine and Emin's Halloween and rave costumes, from SCRATCH! My brain is always on D.I.Y. overload. Naturally, when I got engaged, everyone knew I would come up with some crazy creative idea for my wedding theme/colors. Surprisingly Emin was the one who actually triggered the idea.

MANIFA'S STORY: OUR WEDDING VENUE

I’m back and ready to reveal our reception and AND ceremony venue locations, but first I want to navigate you all through the most difficult decision Emin and I have had to make so far. In my last blog, I wrote about the three venues Emin and I first went to see: Metropol Banquet, Legacy Ballroom, and Vertigo. Since Emin and I have seen more than 20 venues I decided to do a quick recap on some of the venues and then reveal our final choice. Do you think you can guess which venue we chose before the final reveal? Good luck.

MANIFA'S STORY: SELECTING A VENUE

Greetings from wedding planning world! It has been a while since my last blog post, but I’m back with another edition of Emin and Manifa’s journey down the aisle. A lot has happened since we got engaged and I’m so excited to be sharing it with everyone! Grab some popcorn and prepare yourself for this next blog post because things are going to get crazy!

The last time I ever planned a big event was my sweet 16… over 10 years ago! And even then, technically my mom is the one who planned it. I just chose the color scheme. I never knew how difficult it is to plan such a big event. Like any “sane” woman I have planned and re-planned my wedding in my head about a million times, but when it has actually come down to it I have JUST realized how difficult planning actually is. My issue you ask? Well it’s every brides’ worst enemy…. BUDGET! My Pintrest board is filled with countless magical wedding ideas, but if I were to sit and tally up everything I ever wanted I would probably be spending more than that Armenian 10-million-dollar wedding! Here is where reality comes to play (a.k.a. The Dream Crasher). Sure, sitting around and pinning these wonderful wedding locations is easy, but actually finding the right place is the hardest task any Bride and Groom can undertake. Our journey to booking a venue was like going to hell and coming back.

MANIFA'S STORY: SELECTING A PHOTOGRAPHER

Attention! Attention! Attention! WE HAVE BOOKED OUR PHOTOGRAPHER! Sorry I’m a little excited! Although planning a wedding is not an easy task, picking our photographer was a no brainer. I’ve become one of those brides that follows EVERY vendor on Instagram. My feed is full of weddings pictures! I was like this before I even started planning a wedding and one of my favorite photographers has been Sakosan for the longest time. I first discovered his photographs from a picture Harsanik.com posted on their own Instagram and ever since that day I knew he was going to photograph my wedding. I've shared some of my favorite photos from Sakosan in this blog.

MANIFA'S STORY: OUR KHOSK-KAP

The words have been tied and it all feels so official! You must be thinking I've officially lost my mind! Well I have. Work, school, and wedding planning is exhausting, but that's a topic for another blog. So back to the original topic of this post, my Khosk-Kap! After getting engaged, I became extremely interested in our Armenian wedding traditions. When I read about a Khosk-Kap, which literally means "the words have been tied," I knew I wanted to have one! Essentially a Khosk-Kap was when the groom's parents and bride's parents would sit and arrange their children's marriage. Now that arranged marriages aren't very common, it has become more of a celebration of love and a good opportunity for both families to officially meet. With that said, here's the story of our Khosk-Kap...

MANIFA'S STORY: THE PROPOSAL

In Manifa's first Bride's Story blog, she told us all about her and Emin and how their relationship started. As she mentioned, Emin's love for gambling would play a big role in his proposal. Find out how it all happened as Manifa shares their sweet proposal story:

Every girl dreams of her perfect proposal. Some want something grand and majestic, others prefer something low key and romantic. I always just wanted my proposal to be a surprise. I knew that when Emin proposed to me it would be unexpected, extremely creative, and personal.

My proposal was easily the cutest thing Emin has ever planned. It fit our personalities perfectly! I couldn't have asked for anything better.
