Your Guests Will Leave Hungry, Sunday, 01 November 2009

I wish I could rate the Brandview a big fat Zero. I was the maid of honor for my sister's wedding. I was present at all meetings relating to the wedding details. On the day of the wedding, as busy as we were, we thought everything was going great. The hall looked beautiful. We paid $69 per person. BUT, the food was horrible. We heard about it from our family the next day. I had to break it to my sister when she returned from the honeymoon. First, we had a separate kids table that we paid for, but there was no food on it. They even charged the kids $12 per kid for "unlimited liquor." There was hardly enough of the things we ordered. Some tables had no shrimp cocktail. Other tables were missing other appetizers. The various cold cuts had been combined into one plate, so instead of 10 each, there was 5 each. They passed around the boreg, in the first half hour, when hardly any guests had arrived. The fish was supposed to be served an hour after the khorovatz, but it arrived at the same time. The khorovatz was undercooked. The fish was cold. Then they "forgot" to serve the sorbet. Then, for some strange reason, after they had served the cake, they decided to serve more appetizers, even at tables where the guests had left. We couldn't figure out why. It looked stupid. I was sitting at the head table, and we were out of water all night. I couldn't spot a waiter to ask for some. While the happy couple was still on their honeymoon, I met with the owner. She brought along the General Manager and Floor Manager. They ultimately began shouting at me, stating that we were trying to scam them out of money, despite the fact that we had pre-paid the whole thing. After my sister returned and heard about the whole thing, she discretely asked a number of her guests about the food and service. Even her non-Armenian friends commented that they had to tip the waiters to get any kind of attention from them. Instead of an apology from the owner, which I think would have resolved the dispute, (afterall, they had just gotten back from their honeymoon), the owner lawyered up. They ultimately settled and agreed to refund for the sorbet and the cost of liquor charged for the kids. I think they were afraid they'd lose their ABC license for selling alcohol to minors. The wedding was great. We are embarrassed (and to a certain degree still are) for not serving our guests better food. Think twice before booking Brandview. You can find better food and better value for the food at other banquet halls.

Very classy, they don't put food on top of each other. More European style. Nice decor, very nice bar area.
