Sona & Tak Exclusive Interview: Chapter 1

In a crowd of over 100,000 people, Sona and Tak met and so their love story begins. After dating for a little over a year later, Tak proposed, and the couple got married on Saturday August 25, 2018. The Harsanik Team had the honor of sitting down with both Sona and Tak to hear their story, from how they met, the proposal, wedding planning, and memories from their wedding. We're thrilled to share a 3-part video series of our interview highlights.

First up, Chapter 1: The Beginning.

Introductions

Tak, short for Artak, was born in Yerevan, Armenia. He moved to the United States in 1989. Tak pursued a career in animation and graphic design within the TV industry. He's funny, witty, sarcastic, and is one heck of a gentleman.

Sona Movsesian is in fact not her real name! We quickly found out that Sona's legal first name is Talin (Sona is her middle name). Sona was born and raised in Los Angeles, and attended Mesrobian High School followed by University of Southern California. After a few years at NBC, she got a job as Conan O'Brien's assistant. In November 2015, she traveled to Armenia with Conan for the infamous Conan in Armenia episode. While she wishes she could take credit for convincing Conan to do the episode in Armenia, she shared that it was completely Conan's idea. As Sona says, the Conan in Armenia episode literally changed her life. She and Tak now live in Glendale, and she says that no trip to the Americana is complete without at least one person recognizing her.

How They Met

The two were attending Comic-Con with mutual friends, and it just happened that their friends knew each other. Sona and Tak were introduced, and it took Tak a bit of time to realize this was THE Sona from the Conan episode. When we asked them to share some funny memories from their relationship, the couple had all of us laughing. Sona and Tak's stories of their first date, an accident with the space heater, and a date at Universal City Walk will be sure to entertain!

How He Proposed

Sona and Tak went to Oahu, Hawaii for vacation. Sona's family from Australia was there and so Tak figured it would be a perfect opportunity to propose. Now we expected a traditional proposal - the couple standing at a beautiful view, the man on bended knee, an exchange of a ring. But what we heard was far from traditional. The proposal took place while the couple was swimming, the ring wasn't present, and there was confusion over exactly how Tak proposed. Sona and Tak share details of the proposal scene, where Tak kept the ring, and how they shared the news with family, friends, and Conan!
