At this time of global pandemic, we recognize this is a uniquely challenging time for all families, and we here at Harsanik, hope you and your loved ones are keeping safe and well. COVID-19 has had a catastrophic impact on everyone, especially the wedding industry. We are saddened by the countless wedding postponements and cancellations, and we empathize with all individuals and business owners who are suffering from economic hardships.
The negative economic impact faced by our vendors has caused our business to come to a stand-still. Less than 48 hours after the Stay-at-Home orders were placed on March 19, 2020, we stopped charging for advertising, and we even made the decision to refund all vendors who had prepaid. We have always believed our success is based on our advertisers’ success, and thus we believed it was not right to charge our vendors when their business came to a sudden stand-still. However, after 3 months of not charging for advertising yet keeping up with our business operating expenses, and with the future of large gatherings being up in the air, we made the decision to shut down Harsanik.
We started Harsanik in 2007 with a vision to revolutionize the Armenian wedding industry. Our primary goals were to ease wedding planning and connect vendors to brides. Upon launch, we enabled mom-and-pop shops to have a digital presence for free, something that at that time was only available for those with large marketing budgets and strong technical aptitude.
We began as a very simple directory with just over a hundred vendors who cater to Armenian weddings across Los Angeles County. Over the years, we expanded to more than a thousand vendors across 23 categories, a database of the most comprehensive and trustworthy user ratings and reviews, and blogs filled with inspiration and ideas. Our favorite blogs were those sharing our brides’ stories, from heart-melting love stories, romantic proposals, creative bridal showers, and joyous wedding celebrations. We were the first to produce the most elegant bridal show that solved the needs of the Armenian bride and groom in 2009, and we continued producing the Harsanik Bridal Show until 2015.
We thank everyone who has supported Harsanik. All early vendors who chose to be part of our free online directory, back when that concept sounded foreign and risky. All married couples, bridesmaids, and family members who used Harsanik to help with wedding planning. All exhibitors and guests who attended one of our bridal shows. All brides and grooms who shared their love story and were featured on our blog. And a heart-felt thank you to all advertisers over the 13 years who invested their hard-earned money to promote their business to the Harsanik community of users. It is thanks to all online advertisers and bridal show exhibitors that we were able to promote Armenian wedding vendors and showcase our beautiful Armenian culture and Armenian wedding traditions through our website, events, and social media presence.
While we have made the decision to shut down Harsanik, we would love to pass the baton to someone who’s passionate about Armenian weddings and have them create the next chapter of Harsanik. If you or anyone you know is interested, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss. Harsanik is the perfect business for someone who is passionate about keeping the Armenian culture alive and celebrating love stories.
We want to thank everyone who has been with us throughout our journey, and we know that brighter days will be ahead. Love stories will continue and weddings will remain a source of joy and a celebration of our beautiful Armenian culture. We are grateful to everyone who showcased an act of kindness, offered a helping hand, provided information or feedback, or simply sent an email letting us know how Harsanik has helped them. Nothing brought more joy to us than words of appreciation and knowing Harsanik was a helpful source for the Armenian community.
So with that, we have one final request we are making to all current and former users, vendors, partners, and advertisers. We would be thrilled to hear from you as to how Harsanik has helped you. Whether our directory allowed you to attract more customers, helped reduce the stress of Armenian wedding planning by making it easier to find your vendors, learned about an Armenian wedding tradition you were not aware of, or were inspired to start your own business or side hustle, we would love to hear from you. Please post your message using the hashtag #HarsanikFarewell or if you’d prefer to keep it private, send us an email to email@example.com or message us directly on Facebook or Instagram.
