Christine's Story: DIY Invitations
One thing that you will definitely learn about me is that I'm big on DIY. When it comes to paper crafts, that's my specialty. In addition to making our Save the Date cards, one thing I have already started to make is our wedding invitations. I am trying to give myself a head start since we will be making quite a few cards.
A great place to start looking for cards if you plan to make your own is Michaels. Gartner Studios has a collection called "Brides" in which brides can print their own invitations at home. I think most people look at this negatively because it seems as though you just hit print and you're done. However, I love the design aspect of it and the ability to customize my cards however I want.
With the Brides collection, I came up with the idea of the shape and style of the cards. I started out by printing in dark grey, then attaching the dark grey edging and silver glitter border. The final touch was adding the tiny rhinestones. The process includes everything from designing the card, the wording, RSVP cards, the envelope and more! Here are some photos of the final invitations.
