Diana's Story: Our Wedding Flowers
Roses, ranunculus, dahlias, coxcombs, lisianthus, amaranthus, anemones…and my centerpiece floral arrangement list goes on, and on, and on.
Like many brides, I absolutely love flowers and picking a florist was no easy feat. When I began my search, I knew two things – (1) what floral arrangements I generally liked (the diaphanous look, typically achieved with high petal count flowers), and (2) that I wanted a romantic look for the wedding.
With the above in mind, I went on my quest for a florist. After weeks of searching, I came across Giah Events Studio. Although I initially had some hesitation because of their location (Huntington Park), I was reassured by my contact at Giah Events, Hong, that they were more than happy to work on a wedding in Pasadena. And I have since learned that they have worked on countless Los Angeles area weddings, including many Armenian weddings in the Glendale/Pasadena area.
What I absolutely loved about Giah Events Studio is that they didn’t say no to any of my floral requests. While I had previously heard that some flowers were out of season or were prohibitively expensive from other florists, Giah had a “we can make anything happen” mentality. This positive and helpful attitude was really driven home by Hong. Over the past few months, Hong and I communicated countless times over phone, text, and email. Hong helped me to choose everything from the base of the centerpieces, to the types of flowers, the specific types of greenery, and the overall shape of the arrangement. She was just amazing! When I wasn’t sure about something, Hong provided me with really helpful suggestions that worked well with the look I wanted to create and was cognizant of my parameters (types of flowers, budget, etc.). She understood that I was a particular bride when it came to flowers and knew the type of advice that I needed. I also cannot stress enough how refreshing it was that she did not attempt to upsell me.
One of the best parts about working with Giah is that they provide each couple with a floral mock-up. I went to mine in September. It was so helpful and fun. When I walked in to the studio, which was huge and filled with gorgeous flower arrangements and floral props, Hong and the other florists had already created my centerpiece exactly how I had designed it on paper. It was beautiful and the florists had done an incredible job at executing the exact look I had asked for. Although I loved it, Hong - being the perfectionist that she is - encouraged me to play with the types of flowers, the colors, and even the bases of the centerpieces to make sure that I was 100% happy with the end-product. After a couple (okay, let’s be honest, it was more than a couple because, well, I was in a gorgeous flower shop with endless options) changes to the arrangements, I chose my gorgeous centerpiece under the good guidance of the skilled florists at Giah.
I cannot wait to see Giah Events Studio’s magnificent creations on the wedding day. I have chosen to have some fun with this beautiful season and play with colors…lots of deep reds and pinks! Stay tuned!
