We recently stubbled upon pictures of a beautiful wedding at the stunning Pelican Hill Resort. We got in touch with the beautiful bride, Jamie to get details on her extraordinary wedding day. We loved hearing about the way the couple met and all the little personal moments and surprises planned on the wedding day. Jamie and Anthony share their planning methods and advice on how to ensure your day goes by smoothly.

How did you and Anthony meet?
We met at the my cousin's wedding where I was a bridesmaid and he was a groomsman. My cousin was marrying our best man. During the wedding weekend Anthony was interested me, but I didn't want anything to do with him. He stayed persistent and didn't give up pursuing me and eventually convinced me to go out on a date with him. After our first date we were together everyday.
Tell us about the proposal!
Anthony proposed to me in the most romantic way. He said we were going on a staycation for my birthday and to get dressed up for my "birthday dinner." He told me that we were going to check into the hotel room before we went to dinner. When we arrived to the resort we walked to one of the nicest private villas that was decorated with rose petals and candles everywhere outside. He got down on one knee and I said, "Yes!" When we entered the villa I saw that he had flown in all of my family and closest friends to be there for the special night! It was a weekend of celebration and a night we will never forget.
Tell us more about your wedding planning experience.
Our wedding planning experience was actually pretty awesome. I wanted a simple wedding because I didn't wanna spend a ton of money and Anthony wanted to give me the wedding of my dreams. We both knew we wanted a destination wedding because we didn't want to get married in Las Vegas where we live. We both love the California coast, so that's where the venue shopping began. We looked at a few venues in Newport Beach, one of which was the my dream wedding venue that I never thought we would be able to book. Little did I know how wrong I was! The venue happened to have a date available; the only catch was it was three months away! So we planned our wedding in just three months and it wasn't as stressful as everyone said it would be.
How was your dress shopping experience?
Dress shopping was very interesting. My mom, mother in law, and myself went shopping before we even had a wedding date. The first two stores we went to were terrible! The dress shape I always thought I wanted looked horrible on me. I was ready to be done for the day since I wasn't really in a rush, but we happened to drive by a dress shop and my mom suggested we just try one more time. We went in and again I tried the same dress shape I thought I wanted and it still didn't look good. This very sweet employee wanted me to try on a dress that I didn't wanna try because it was very big and very sparkly and I thought I wanted something fitted with simple lace, but decided to give it a try and ended up buying it that day. Luckily it didn't need to be altered at all because a week later I found out the wedding was in three months!
Did you incorporate any traditions into your wedding?
We did incorporate lots of traditional traditions with our own little twist. We did a cake cutting, however it was with donuts instead of cake. There was a father daughter dance with my brothers and my step dad since my father passed. There was also a mother son dance.
What was your favorite moments from the wedding?
My favorite moment was our first look. Seeing my husband so overwhelmed with happiness and the way he looked at me, I'll never forget that. During our first look we also said our own personal vows to one another which was a special moment between just him and I. Another one of my favorite moments was walking down the aisle. I didn't expect my husband to have another reaction to seeing me since he saw me earlier that day for our first look. but I was very wrong. During our ceremony it felt like it was just him and I. It was incredibly special. One more of my favorite moments was that I had planned an entire after party with gambling tables, giant Jenga, cornhole, cigar rollers, and dancing. My husband had no idea about the after party. I had switched the color palette to be in his favorite football team's colors: Maize and Blue for The Michigan Wolverines. I really think it was a pleasant surprise when he didn't have to see anymore pink. Part of the party was blowing up 2,000 balloons the night before. For this I will be forever thankful to my bridesmaids!
