Pop Culture: Balloon Wedding Dresses
Here at Harsanik.com we're always on the lookout for new and exciting wedding news and trends and we recently came across this! Japanese fashion designer and balloon artist Rie Hosokai creates the latest in balloon couture: balloon wedding dresses!

Made entirely by hand, designer Hosokai twists and weaves upwards of 2000 balloons to create these unique dresses. Each dress lasts about 24 hours before beginning to deflate and changes color depending on the temperature and humidity. Most of the designer’s dresses range in price from 150,000 to 300,000 yen approximately $1930 to $3860, and she has also sold a balloon dress, headpiece, and bouquet for 1 million yen!
Hosokai has sold more than 20 wedding dresses, has made an impact on high couture fashion and hopes to attract customers looking for unusual party wear to wow their guests.
You can learn more about designer Hosokai and her balloon dresses on her website www.riehosokai.com and watch one of her designed balloon dresses on the runway at the 2009 Balloon Fashion Show of the Balloon Camp Convention in Las Vegas. This balloon dress tied for first place in the 2009 Balloon Couture Fashion Show!
