Talar's Story: Booking Our Honeymoon

Written by . Posted in Talar's Story

Serj and I couldn't have been any more different when it came to suggesting places for our honeymoon. The two things we did know were that we did not care to go any island or water related location and we did not want to go immediately after our wedding. So we each had a suggestion. Serj wanted to go to Europe, specifically France and Italy, and I wanted to go to somewhere adventurous such as South Africa.

We looked into flights, hotels, and the list of things to do for each and very quickly came to a realization that Europe was going to be very expensive. So through a friend's suggestion, we contacted Icon Expeditions, who sent us an itinerary of travel in South Africa. We were immediately sold. Not only was the pricing convenient, but the locations and list of things to do were amazing!

However, Serj and I are very much about compromise and truth be told, we did not know how we were going to last that 26 hour trip to Cape Town. So given that our layover is in London, we decided to extend a 4 hour layover, to three days and this way we can see a part of Europe as well.

Ultimately, we booked our honeymoon for September to include Serj's birthday, the anniversary of the day he proposed, and the anniversary of our first date! After all, we will have a lot to celebrate. We will spend 3 days in London and tour some of the city's highlights. Then we will continue on to Cape Town for four days where we will be staying at the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront and then our last three days will be spent at the Sabi Sands Gaming Park at the Arathusa Lodge!

We owe a very large thank you to our best man and maid-of-honor, my brother and sister-in-law, Shant and Odet who so beyond graciously gifted Serj and I our honeymoon! We absolutely cannot wait for this once-in-a-lifetime adventure!

But first... let's get married! (68 days left!)
