Featured Proposal: Jaber & Yas
For some brides the element of surprise in their wedding ring is a big part of their dream proposal. For others, they would rather be a part of the whole ring buying process. Yas was very involved when it came to purchasing her dream ring, but Jaber still found a way to surprise her with her proposal. We recently talked to Yas and got the whole story!
Tell us how you and Jaber met.
Well, we've been together for one year and nine months. We met online and from the minute we met it was as if we've known each other for years. We both felt totally comfortable talking to each other and we would message each other non stop and it's been that way ever since!
I didn't understand why it seemed so easy and so natural to fall in love with Jaber. I just couldn't grasp the idea that this was the real deal. I think one of the first signs where I realized he was the one was at the very beginning of our relationship when he took me to go ice skating in Downtown LA. The laces to my skates untied and I was wearing a skirt so it was difficult for me to bend down and tie my laces. When I stopped to tie them, he reached out and said, "Don't worry about it. I'll do it for you." I just thought that was the cutest thing ever! I mean he really didn't know me that well, but here he was helping me even thought he didn't even have to offer. It's the small things that matter to me and he was always spot on!
Before we get into the whole ring buying process, how did he propose?
Jaber asked me to marry him on Jan. 18, 2018! Unlike the norm where the girl is surprised about getting married, we had already planned it out. I just didn't know when the proposal would actually happen. He called me and told me that he will be picking me up from work after he picked up my ring. He mentioned that we'll have dinner somewhere in the area. This was a normal thing for us so I didn't think much of it. When he picked me up, the first thing I noticed was that he was dressed up and I asked him why. He just played it off and said it was because he was going to pick up the ring and he wanted to look nice doing it since it was a special day. Again, I didn't think much of it, but the crazy thing was that we just happened to be matching! He was wearing a black button up shirt with a solid white stripe along the buttons and I had on a black shirt with a white blazer, and I never wear my white blazer! He asked me where I would like to go for dinner and I said I have been craving Raffi's in Glendale all day so maybe we can have dinner there; he agreed. During dinner, I mentioned to him we should stop by the Glendale Galleria and Americana to see if we could find him a tie that he needed before the mall closed. We rushed over there and didn't find anything so I was like let's go for a walk at the Americana. He, of course, was all for it since he had planned to propose to me there! I basically led him to my own proposal spot without him even trying. I guess he knows me too well.
There is a beautiful giant chandelier that hangs in the middle of a walkway outside the mall, in Americana, and every time we go there I always mention what a cute spot it is. As we were walking, I saw the chandelier out in the distance and said '"Look how pretty the chandelier looks even from out here!" Jaber then reminded me of the last time he had taken a picture of me under that chandelier. I remember not liking that picture at all so I asked him to take another picture of me. I took his hand and walked him right under the chandelier and I said "Ok! You can take my picture here!" But he wasn't moving and I remember wondering why he was just standing there! As I was thinking this, I looked behind me and see his mom and family walking towards us with lit up flowers and then John Legend's "All Of You" started playing on the speakers. It was super cute! I couldn't get over the fact that I walked him to my own proposal spot! I mean, what if I didn't want to eat in Glendale or go to the mall!? I truly believe it was all meant to be! He then got on one knee and proposed and I of course said "YES!" I can't explain to you how cute everything was that day, but take my word, it was the most magical day ever!
That is such a wonderful proposal story. So tell us the process behind creating your dream ring.
Yes, I custom made my beautiful ring! I wanted the shape of the ring to be classic round and have a lot bling all around it. Imagine two rows of just bling! It took a few months to design it and have it exactly how I imagined it! The base of the ring is Euro style.
We want to thank Yas and Jaber so much for sharing their beautiful proposal story. We wish them a lifetime of happiness and cannot wait to see photos and hear all about their wedding!
