Smiles, laughs, tears; there are so many emotions that a bride and groom go through on their wedding day. Narek & Sandi's wedding was a great example of this rollercoaster of emotions. Jay Jay Productions captured this amazing moment and, here at Harsanik, we knew that we had to find out what caused this cluster of emotions. Sandi tells us all about that iconic moment as well as all the fun traditions she & Narek incorporated on their special day.

Tell us about Narek and how you met.

My husband and I met when he came in for an interview at Best Buy where I was working. And as soon as I looked at him I remember telling my co-worker, “I’m going to marry that guy.” She thought I was crazy but sure enough it was fate! Narek proposed on a Gondola boat ride. I picked up a bottle with a note inside from the water and there was the proposal letter and he was holding the ring!

Share about your wedding planning experience.

Wedding planning was definitely tough, but it was fun at the same time! Our vision for our wedding was to be elegant and unique with love in the air and that’s exactly how it turned out! We started planning about a year in advance so I started following pages on Pinterest and Instagram to get ideas.

Choosing Jay Jay to do our photo and video was a no brainier I had been followed his page for as long as I can remember! When it came to choosing florals, DJ, cake, etc it was just about calling around and getting a feel of different vendors until we finally found the perfect ones! I loved planning my wedding because of who I was planning it with. My husband made me feel like a queen throughout the whole process. I would say the toughest part about wedding planning is staying sane between everyone’s different opinions. Most important thing to do is to listen to the opinions, but do what you and your husband like and want!

Tell us about that amazing dress.

My wedding dress shopping experience was wonderful. I ended up choosing a ball gown dress. Making sure you feel beautiful and confident on your big day is so important and when you wear the one you just know it’s YOUR DRESS!

Did you incorporate any Armenian or Syrian traditions into your wedding? If so, which ones and why those?

My husband is Armenian I am Syrian, this made it very difficult for us in the beginning planning our wedding. We wanted our parents to be okay with us taking out certain traditions from of our cultures, yet we both stood our ground and fought for what we wanted to include, but we had to make our decisions together no matter what it took! I will say that having the groom come to my house to pick me up was truly one of my favorite Armenian traditions that we included on our special day.

What were your favorite moments from your wedding?

We had so many funny and amazing moments on our wedding day. When we were in the church the priest was saying something along the lines of you stay together through sickness and troubles and my husband and I couldn’t help but start tearing up. The priest then asks us, “Why are you crying?” and we just started laughing. I replied that we are just so emotional he just said, “Today is a happy day. Why cry?” It was a great moment and I was so glad that JayJay captured that moment for us!

What is your advice for couples planning their special day?

Throughout wedding planning the most important thing is for you and your significant other to not lose track of each other. Be there for one another even between all the opinions. You need to make sure you both are doing what your hearts desire. At the end of it all it’s YOUR special day.
