A Bride's Story

ANNOUNCING OUR BRIDE'S STORY WINNERS

We're thrilled to to share with you the winners of our Bride's Story competition! Last month we ran a contest to select the next Bride's Story blogger to feature on Harsanik. We were looking for a bride who would be willing to share her wedding planning journey on the Harsanik blog, giving us an update every two weeks on their latest adventures - from selecting the venue, finalizing guest list, working on the budget, choosing flowers, etc. We asked Harsanik users to submit their story and we were honored with the number of brides who shared with us a little about them, their fiancé, and their upcoming wedding. We sincerely want to thank everyone who applied to be the next Bride's Story blogger. We loved reading each of your stories!

The toughest part was selecting a winner. And with so many great stories, we decided to slightly bend the rules and pick TWO WINNERS instead of just one! Congratulations to Talar Shekherdimian and Christine Brungard for being the selected as the two Bride's Story bloggers for Harsanik! We are excited to share with you a brief introduction of Talar and Christine in this blog. In the next few weeks, Talar and Christine will begin sharing their stories on our blog so be sure to check in every week to read about their wedding planning adventures!

A BRIDE'S STORY: OUR WEDDING

*REPOST*

This is Marineh and I am one of the co-founders of Harsanik. On August 7, 2010, I was so blessed to get married to the most amazing man. We had a beautiful Armenian wedding at Taglyan and it turned out to be a magical day!

Throughout the past year, I shared my wedding planning adventures in my blog called A Bride's Story, including picking the venue, the dress, the food and cake tastings, and other fun wedding stories. Now, a few months after the wedding, I am excited to share with you all the photo and video highlights from our wedding day over a series of blogs!

A BRIDE'S STORY: MY HAIR, MAKEUP & HEADPIECE

Hi again - this is Marineh, co-founder of Harsanik.com, the #1 guide for planning an Armenian wedding! Often times, brides email me asking for suggestions for hair & makeup artists, as well as ideas for hair accessories. There are many great vendors listed on Harsanik.com under the Hair, Makeup & Beauty and Bridal Accessories categories. So I recommend browsing through our directory to find the right vendor who fits your style to cater to your Armenian wedding.

I’m happy to share with you who I chose to work with for my wedding hair & makeup, and my unique headpiece. Edward Jacob was my hair & makeup artist, and he works in the Capelli Salon located on North Brand in Glendale, CA. I first tried Edward Jacobs for my engagement party, and I fell in love with his work! He does a phenomenal job with both hair and makeup, and he focuses on making you look naturally beautiful.

After my engagement, I went back to Edward for my bridal shower, and of course my wedding day. Edward was so amazing to work with! He is a fun, young guy and he knows how to make you feel relaxed on your special day. He is also very creative with hair, and he was able to come up with a beautiful style to go along with my beautiful headpiece!

Speaking of my headpiece, I was so thrilled to have picked Addicted 2B Jeweled to design my wedding headpiece! Knarik from Addicted did an amazing job designing a unique and stunning 3-piece headpiece customized to my preference. When I met with Knarik, I told her I was looking for something a little different. She showed me a picture of her new bridal couture line that she was working on, and I immediately fell in love with the style. I worked with Knarik to customize the headpiece to be exactly what I wanted: a 3-piece design, each shaped like a leaf, wrapped in chiffon fabric, draped with large Swarowski crystals, and touched up with a bit of lace.  The headpiece was beautiful and I had so many people all day asking or commenting about my headpiece from Addicted 2B Jeweled.

Thank you both Edward Jacob and Knarik from Addicted 2B Jeweled for the amazing work!

UPDATE:
My headpiece is not like a traditional Armenian headpiece. On August 20, 2011, Kim Kardashian wore what is being referred to as an "Armenian headpiece" on her wedding day. Kim's headpiece was beautiful and very traditional, with tear-shaped diamonds hanging over her forehead.  Check out our Bridal Accessories category to find many vendors that can re-create Kim's look for your wedding day!

A BRIDE'S STORY: MY WEDDING DRESS

Of all the wedding tasks that I took care of before the wedding, selecting my wedding dress was probably one of the easiest ones to accomplish! The very first wedding dress I tried on was the one I ended up buying! You can read all about my wedding dress shopping experience at Jobyna's Bridal in one of my previous blogs.

My whole experience with Jobyna's Bridal was fantastic! Not only did they help me through the whole process of selecting a dress, but they were also great to work with through the whole dress fitting cycles! Thank you Isabel, Angie, Kristina and the rest of the team for all your help!

Check out some pictures of my wedding dress, designed by Pronovias.

UPDATE: Jobyna's Bridal is now operating under the business name Lovella Bridal.
